Do this, not that
Do
- Carry a passport photo for the visa desk.
- Carry US dollars in cash if this isn't your first visit this year.
- Count your days. The free visa covers 30.
- Extend at the Department of Immigration before your visa runs out.
Don't
- Don't assume a second trip in the same year is free.
- Don't overstay. Extensions start at USD 45 for 15 days.
- Don't pay an agent for "visa approval". The visa is issued on arrival.
- Don't cross at a small border point that doesn't issue visas.
What people get wrong
You'll hearNepal is visa-free for Pakistanis.
ActuallyYou still need a visa. It's issued on arrival and free on your first visit of the year.
You'll hearThe free visa works for every trip.
ActuallyOnly for the first visit in each calendar year. After that you pay.
You'll hearYou must get the visa from the embassy in Islamabad.
ActuallyThat's optional. Most people get it at Tribhuvan airport.
You'll hearYou need 6 months on your passport.
ActuallyThe embassy pages we checked don't say so. Six months is still the safe choice.
